Horror

We’ve been blinded by the chaotic election in USA to notice what’s been going on right in front of us.

My home town has been ruled by the social democrats (S) since the election, but this fall their budget was overruled by the oppositions. This resulted in the boards leaving their positions open and yesterday the local politicians voted for a new board. The right-wing party Moderaterna (M) won the chairmanship by one vote over the extreme right party Sweden democrats, SD (there’s nothing “democratic” over their politics. They genuinely want to take away citizenship from people. People like immigrants, people who supports immigrants and LGBT+ people. They have firm roots in the nazi movement). In return the opposition voted for the SDs candidate for vice chairman who won by one vote over the social democrats (S)

This is the ugliest power-game I’ve ever seen. The opposition has broken their principles just in order to grasp the power!

These are my new employers. People who don’t think that my life matters. The very people who are delighted by Tumps statements about Sweden and take the chance when they see it to add to the fire.

In addition, the budget they won with is unrealistic. The school districts much needed investment budget was cut by roughly $600 000. Money that was aimed for investments to fulfill the governments demands on Swedish schools. It’s easy to create a nice-looking budget when you’re in opposition, but just cutting in it without any explanation is just plain stupid. Good luck with that, now you’re the ones who’s accountable!

Yes I’m mad. And a bit scared. We’ll see where this leads, let’s just say that our escape-plan is planned a bit more in detail at the moment.

Really sorry to hear this! I think we’re going to see a whole lot more of this kind of thing before it’s all said and done. Good people around the world are going to have to stand up to these bullies in order to bring the balance back around. In the meantime, take care of yourselves and do what you have to do to stay safe. Best of luck!

I’m curious where you think might be safer than Sweden. You don’t need to answer me but just thought I’d throw that out there since I can’t think of a single place on this planet that the right wing conservatives haven’t gotten a foot hold on now. Antarctica?

      • Something like that 😉
Our list includes places like small towns, outback and other small places where your survival is dependent on others, no matter who they are.
My wife is teaching at a school in a small community outside the city and the kids know both her and me well – and both the kids and their families accept us fully. When you know every kid in the community, are a very good teacher and the school depend on your qualifications to function, it’s very hard for people to care to have an opinion on how you liver your life or where you’re from. You are a vital part of the community and the community will stand up for you accordingly. This is why its so important for me to be open about being gay/trans. In the long run I feel it will make the world a better place.

That makes a lot of sense! I agree that being out and showing people what the face of gay/trans looks like only helps our causes. I wish you strength and good luck thru all of this.
